State of emergency does not involve other restrictions than those decided by CES

The declaring of a state of emergency enables the authorities to swiftly take the necessary measures that do not include other restriction and actions than those set by decision of the Commission for Exceptional Situations (CES). All the Commission’s decisions will be made public and intensely disseminated, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

Under the previous decisions taken by the CES, the retail outlets, except for grocery stores, pharmacies and filling stations, will stop work until April 1. The commercial markets, the rehabilitation/recovery centers and the public eating places, except for those that provide catering services, will also not work.

Air traffic with all the countries of the world and international railway passenger traffic were suspended until April 1. The access of foreigners to Moldova, except for persons with a diplomatic status and those who have the residence in Moldova and persons who accompany freight, is banned by the same date. The restriction does not apply to foreigners who are already in Moldova.

The Commission for Exceptional Situations calls on the citizens to show maximum responsibility and to comply with the measures instituted by the authorities as any violation of the legislation will be penalized. The citizens who are abroad are urged to refrain from traveling as they risk getting stuck at terrestrial border crossing points of the states they cross.

The activity of manufacturing enterprises is not restricted, but the sanitary norms recommended by the authorities should be obeyed. Online commercial activity, public and interurban transport and wholesale trade are allowed. The activity of banks, catering services and construction works are also authorized,

The vacation of students was extended for one more week, but could be yet extended.

If the number of infection cases declines by March 20, some of the decisions will be reexamined.

Moldova’s Parliament declared a state of emergency until May 15, at the proposal of the Government. The period could be reduced, depending on the developments.
