A state of emergency was declared in Ceadâr-Lunga after the authorities estimated the damage caused by the heavy rain that fell on June 25. According to the commission for exceptional situations of the Ceadâr-Lunga mayor’s office, houses and cellars were flooded and road sections were seriously damaged, IPN reports.
The rainwater flooded at least eight apartments, with the damage being assessed by the authorities at 150,000 lei. Basements, yards, gardens in over 30 homes were affected and the damage was estimated at about 100,000 lei. The damage done to economic entities that had their spaces flooded is yet being determined.
In a district of the town, the artesian well from which water was supplied was flooded. Until the installation is repaired, the locals will be supplied with water in tanks.
A local asphalted street was destroyed almost fully, with the damage being assessed at about 4 million lei. Damage of 550,000 lei was caused to roads under construction.
The state of emergency is valid until July 2. The local public authorities said the citizens and business entities that were affected by the calamities can file applications to the mayor’s office. The local administration decided to seek help from the regional authorities of ATU Gagauzia and the central authorities in Chisinau.
