The State Chancellery of the Government of the Republic of Moldova initiated a financial audit at the sanatorium “Moldova” situated in Ukraine’s Truskavets given the more often requests made by the medical-sanitary institution’s administration to be allowed to take out bank loans.

“Such requests since the beginning of this year have come very often and rather insistently. The administration said the bank loans are needed to cover particular costs, including current costs and costs associated with the repayment of previously raised loans and other debts. Before allowing taking out another bank loan, we must carry out a professional audit of the enterprise’s financial situation,” the Government’s secretary general IPN Liliana Iaconi has told IPN.

She noted that the State Chancellery and the state-owned enterprise “Medisan”, which manages Moldova’s facilities on the territory of Ukraine, authorized an employee of the Public Property Agency of the Republic of Moldova, which represents Moldova’s property interests in Ukraine, to perform the audit and to solve specific problems. To facilitate the fulfillment of the task, the sanatorium’s legal address was moved from Truskavets to Kiev, where the Public Property Agency has its representative office.

Contacted by IPN for details, “Medisan” director Alexandru Bunescu said that the debts of “Moldova” sanatorium rose by 60% during a year. “The sudden rise in debts can lead to irreversible consequences. There is also the business entity that is based abroad. Consequently, the founder wants to know what’s going on there and to understand what kind of difficulties are faced and why such debts are being accumulated,” explained Alexandru Bunescu.

He also said that the inspection and audit periods weren’t set, but will be decided by the State Chancellery. “A meeting to discuss the issue was held in August 3. The options are being considered and all the possible measures will be taken not to avoid the loss of the state property,” stated the director of “Medisan”.

The State Chancellery informed the administration of “Moldova” sanatorium about the audit planned for August 30.

The State Chancellery manages the sanatoriums in Truskavets and Sergeevka and facilities in Odessa that are partially owned by Moldova. The rest of the Moldovan property in Ukraine is managed by the Public Property Agency of the Republic of Moldova.
