State borrows €86m from EBRD for building Balti Regional Hospital

The state will raise a loan of €86 million from the Council of Europe Development Bank for building the Balti Regional Hospital. Parliament approved a bill to ratify the loan framework agreement, IPN reports.

The loan provided by the CEB covers 80% of the total cost of the project estimated at €108 million. The Moldovan Government’s contribution will be €21 million. The loan is repayable in 20 years.

A modern hospital with an area of 38,000 square meters will be built in northern Moldova. It will be outfitted with 340 patient beds and 78 beds for providing ambulatory medical services. It will serve the people from the northern district, who will have access to high-quality medical services and modern equipment.

The Balti Regional Hospital will be built on an area of 5 ha which is situated close to Corlăteni village of Râșcani district. The project is to be completed in 2028.

The loan framework agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank for building the Balti Regional Hospital was signed in Chisinau on October 16, 2023.
