State benefit will be offered to economic entities only with ANPC consent

The state benefit will be provided to economic entities only after the National Agency for Competition Protection (ANPC) verifies if this does not infringe competition rules. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament on June 15. According to the bill author Veaceslav Ionita, the ANPC will have to be informed about any intention to get welfare. The MP questioned the competence of the current composition of the Agency. “I hope the current managers of the Agency will be replaced by competent persons when their terms in office expire. They obtained the adoption of a law that allows them to continue work, but we will address this issue,” said Ionita. He also said that the implementation of the law adopted by Parliament will be more a practice of the future as the state benefit is not often provided now in Moldova. “However, we were to make sure that in the future we will not face situations when financial support is offered to a company to the detriment of another one that may deserve it more,” said Veaceslav Ionita. The new law does not apply to agriculture. This is a separate sector to which about 500 million lei is allocated yearly from the state budget.
