State awards for representatives of OSCE Mission to Moldova

President Igor Dodon signed a decree to confer state awards on current and former members of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) and on representatives of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, who made a significant contribution to the activity of the joint peacekeeping and stability ensuring operation in the Transnistrian region. The Head of State said proposals were also submitted for awarding participants in the joint peacekeeping operation on behalf of Russia and Ukraine, IPN reports.

In a message on his Facebook page, President Dodon said awards are conferred in appreciation of the efforts made to keep peace, stability and order in the security zone of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.

Thus, the Order of the Republic was awarded to Brigade General Ion Solonenco, who has worked on the Joint Control Commission from the very first day of its creation, on July 27, 1992, and has served as the Commission’s co-chairman on behalf of Moldova since 2002.

The Order of Honor was conferred on Belarusian citizen Oleg Bayandin, Lieutenant-Colonel and military consultant of the OSCE Mission to Moldova in 2004-2007. The same order was awarded to Colonel Nicolae Chirtoaca, first co-chairman of the JCC, National Army Colonel Sergey Gutu, military consultant of the Commission since 2006, and to Polish Colonel Jan Nadolski, military representative of the OSCE Mission to Moldova in 2003-2006.

The Labor Glory order was conferred on National Army Colonel Aurel Fondos, superior military chief of the contingent of peacekeeping forces on behalf of Moldova in the security zone in 2007-2011 and a member of the JCC since 2011, on National Army Colonel Victor Macrinschi, superior military chief of the contingent of peacekeeping forces on behalf of Moldova in the security zone in 2003-2007 and a JCC member and on Gheorghe Roman, head of Moldova’s delegation to the JCC in 1995-2002.

“Proposals were also submitted for awarding participants in the joint peacekeeping and stability ensuring operation in the Transnistrian region on behalf of Russia and Ukraine. According to international procedures, these persons can be awarded only with the consent of the countries they represent,” said President Dodon.
