The Republic of Moldova does not need another repression, intimidation or punishment body, said Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev with reference to the National Agency for Competition Protection. According to the head of Government, the protection of competition in Moldova is a relatively new area. The Government supported the creation of the Agency and will support it in continuation. However, the Agency should not destabilize the situation by certain actions, but strengthen the credibility partnership between the public bodies and the businesspeople. Recently, the Agency fined the supermarket chain “Bomba” and the company “SUN Communications” over unfair competition. The Association of Foreign Investors described the decision as abusive. Vasile Tarlev demanded that the problem be solved without delay.
