Individual persons have the rights, starting Friday, July 7, 2006 to introduce on the territory of the Republic of Moldova unlimited volume of banknotes, coins and cheques in national currency of Moldova as well as in foreign currency, without presenting any confirming documents. This procedure became possible after the amendments to the Law from December 20, 2002 on the way of introducing and taking out goods from the territory of the Republic of Moldova by individual persons came into force. According to the amendments, individual persons have the right to take out from Moldova cheques in national and foreign currency up to 10 thousand euros or their equivalent for each person. At the same time it is allowed to take out from the territory of Moldova sums of money amounting to 50 thousand euros in national or foreign currency only if presenting confirming documents, as customs documents that confirm the introduction of this sum to the territory of the Republic of Moldova and allowance of taking out foreign currency, remitted by an authorized bank of National Bank of Moldova. The law stipulates that the right to declare the sums up to 10 thousand euros for a person is optional, while introducing and taking out from the country higher sums of money requires compulsory a written declaration. The bill on amending the law from December 20, 2002 on the way of introducing and taking out goods from the territory of the Republic of Moldova by individual persons came into force after its publishing in “The Official Monitor of the Republic of Moldova”.
