Starting Monday, voters may register for at-home voting

Voters who, for health or other valid reasons, are unable to come in person to the local polling station for the October 20 referendum and presidential election, may ask their electoral office to have a mobile ballot box sent to them on election day. Applications for at-home voting can be submitted starting Monday, October 7.

According to the Central Electoral Commission, the applications must be submitted in writing and this can be done two weeks before election day and until 2:00pm of the day prior to election day. On election day, requests may be approved by the electoral office until 2:00pm only upon presentation of a medical certificate.

Those unable to submit the application in person may do so through a family member or by requesting a social worker at the local administration. If, due to a physical deficiency, illness or other valid reasons, the voter cannot personally sign the application, they can make an oral request at the polling station or, if this is impossible, by telephone.

On election day, the chairperson of the electoral office appoints at least two members who travel with a mobile ballot box and the materials necessary for voting.

Details can be found on the official website of the CEC, under the sections “Constitutional Referendum 20.10.2024” and “Presidential Election 20.10.2024”.
