StarNet promotes safe Internet

StarNet is marking Safer Internet Day in partnership with children. An event dedicated to the safe use of the Internet was held at the Center for Youth “Artico” under the theme “Connect with respect”. More than 50 children took part in the workshop centering on the risk-free use of the Internet. Students from Chisinau education centers found out that Internet is not only a source of information and communication, but can also be a danger for children who can become victims of traffickers in persons or who can be sexually abused, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the company. StarNet joined the initiative of the National Council for the Protection of Child’s Rights and staged a flashmob meeting together with children from “Artico”. The children danced and took part in discussions about security on social networking sites, the negative effects of the Internet and other important themes for electronic protection. “It is important that the online environment provides safety and comfort to users. For this to happen, we need information and technical means. That’s why our goal is to promote a responsible attitude towards the use of the Internet and to offer the best software solutions for the protection of the personal computer,” said Ina Vorosciuc, of the PR service of StarNet. As an Internet provider, StarNet is preoccupied with the safe use of this communication means. That’s why, starting with 2012, with the launch of the partnership with Norton Antivirus, it provides complete informatics security solutions to all its clients, based on the newest technologies that ensure maximum protection against threats and online attacks. This year, StarNet also plans to hold other events to promote a responsible attitude towards the Internet, focusing on the non-revealing of personal data, protection of digital identity, accessing of inoffensive sites. Safer Internet Day is a large-scale European event held annually in February under the aegis of the Insafe - European Safer Internet Network. It aims to promote the safer and more responsible use of online technology, especially by children and adolescents.
