The StarNet Company announced that the first stage of connecting the metropolitan Wi-Fi network in Chisinau was finished. The network is 90 km long and is available for free, Info-Prim Neo learned from Irina Ghelbur of the StarNet PR Service. Now, the inhabitants of Chisinau can access the wireless Internet for free during 30 days. Afterwards, they will be informed about ways to connect to the network. Any owner of a laptop or cell phone can browse the web, access useful information, check their email and spend time on social networks. The metropolitan Wi-Fi network is 90 km long and covers the area of parks, avenues, main streets, 45 lyceums and 4 universities in Chisinau. The Calea Basarabiei Market and the Railway Station areas were connected for the first time. “As Internet has become a necessity and billions use it daily, we want to increase the utility and mobility of Internet connection by launching the largest Wi-Fi network in the country so that everyone could connect without needing a cable or having to go home or at the office. We want to bring Internet where people ask for it. We encourage the citizens to send us requests for connecting Wi-Fi areas”, declared Alexei Munteanu, online marketing manager at StarNet. The StarNet Wi-Fi network has the largest coverage area in Moldova, stable Internet speed and is the first project of its kind that expands according to people’s requests. The inhabitants of Chisinau can demand the connection of an area to the Wi-Fi network by posting a message on the company’s Facebook page, on Twitter or by email at wifi[@]starnet.md, reads the StarNet press release.
