Star Net SRL was deprived of authorization for retransmitting TV channels owing to a number of serious violations identified in its work by the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC), Info-Prim Neo reports. “Star Net is a provider that flouts the law,” BCC member Corneliu Mihalache said in a meeting of the Council on October 24. Another BCC member Nicolae Damaschin said the authorization of Star Net should be withdrawn as violations committed by it are reported at practically every meeting of the Council. According to the head of the Council’s Examination and Licensing Division Victor Pulbere, Star Net SRL retransmitted 193 channels instead of the 83 approved by the BCC and did not broadcast three channels included in its package. So far, the company has been warned two times and fined two times - 1 800 lei and, respectively 5 400 lei, which is the highest fine. Though it was suggested suspending the authorization for 30 days, most of the members of the Council voted in favor of withdrawing it. During October 4-7, the BCC examined the programs of 40 broadcasters and identified irregularities at 30 of them.
