Standing Bureau to discuss functionality of Parliament Apparatus

A report on the functionality of the Parliament's Apparatus will be presented in one of the next meetings of the legislature's Standing Bureau. In a meeting with UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Kaarina Immonen, Head of Parliament and Moldova's Acting President Marian Lupu said the working out of the strategic plan on the development of the Parliament's Apparatus for 2011-2013 represents a priority for the legislative body, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the legislature' press service, Marian Lupu stressed that the UNDP's readiness to provide assistance within the Support to Parliamentary Development in Moldova Project is of major importance in adjusting the legislative work to the European standards. Kaarina Immonen reiterated the development partner's preparedness to help the Parliament of Moldova optimize its work. The Support to Parliamentary Development in Moldova Project was developed and commenced based on a request for urgent support from the Parliament’s administration after the 2009 elections-related riots that resulted in considerable damage of the Parliament’s infrastructure. Its main goal is to enhance parliamentary efficiency in carrying out its functions and responsibilities thus contributing to the existence of a viable democracy and open society. The project was launched in December 2009 and will last for four years.
