Standing Bureau to decide when Association Agreement will be put up for ratification

The Parliament’s Standing Bureau on July 1 will decide the date when the Association Agreement with the EU will be put up for ratification. The announcement was made by Speaker Igor Corman, IPN reports, quoting the Parliament’s press service

Igor Corman said the bill was registered and submitted to the parliamentary commissions for examination. “After the Association Agreement with the EU is ratified, the Moldovan settlements will benefit from a number of regional development projects and will have access to European funds,” he stated, specifying that the advantages of the European integration will be substantial and will generate better living conditions and an enhanced competitiveness of the Moldovan products.

The Head of Parliament also said that Association Agreement is the most important document that Moldova is to ratify after the proclamation of its independence. It was negotiated to favor the country and envisions periods of transition of up to 10 years. In this period, the authorities can negotiate some of the provisions of the accord or can introduce customs duties for goods imported from the EU.

Igor Corman assured that by the end of the current parliamentary session, there will be adopted the Education Code and the bills to raise the salaries of particular categories of people and pensions and to reform the justice sector and the prosecution service.
