The stair of a nine-story apartment building situated in Otaci town in northern Moldova caved in at about 9:20pm on June 19. There are no victims according to the preliminary reports, IPN reports.

The General Inspectorate for Emergencies said 46 people, 11 of whom children, were evacuated from the damaged building at about 6pm. Teams of rescuers and firefighters are working at the scene to make sure there are no persons under the debris.

The Inspectorate’s chief, General-Major Mihail Harabagiu travelled to Otaci to manage the emergency operation. Employees of the Police Inspectorate surrounded the high-risk area to secure the people. The commission for emergencies was convoked.

The cause for the collapse hasn’t been made known yet.

President Igor Dodon informed about the incident through a social networking site. He promised those who remained without a home will be helped.
