The governor of Saint Petersburg Alexandr Beglov confirmed that the city will help organize the Days of the Republic of Moldova in Saint Petersburg. In a letter addressed to Ion Lipciu, the permanent representative of Moldova’s Parliament to the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States and deputy secretary general of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Alexandr Beglov said the bilateral relations between Saint Petersburg and the Republic of Moldova have become stronger and they cover not only enterprises and institutions, but also the inhabitants, IPN reports.
The Days of the Republic of Moldova in Saint Petersburg will coincide with the celebration of the 31st anniversary of the adoption of the national flag and coat of arms of the Republic of Moldova and will take place during April 20-27 under the aegis of Moldova’s Parliament.
During a week, there will be held a number of events dedicated to the Days of the Republic of Moldova, including a rally where 30-35 cars carrying the flags of Moldova, the Russian Federation and Saint Petersburg will move along the route: Taurida Palace – the Bronze Horseman, where flowers will be aid at the monument – University Embankment, where flowers will be laid at the bust of Antioh Cantemir, the son of Moldovan ruler Dimitrie Cantemir – Piskarevskoe Memorial Cemetery, where flowers will also be laid.
As parts of those days, 31 trees will be planted in the Taurida Garden, while a delegation of Moldova’s Parliament will shoot the Cannon at the Peter and Paul Fortress.
The events will continue with a table tennis tournament at the Parliamentary Center, which will involve the teams of St. Petersburg in Leningrad Oblast and of the Republic of Moldova, and a drawing contest among pupils of the city.
There will also be mounted an exhibition of Moldovan painters in St. Petersburg at Taurida Palace on April 26-27.
The Speaker of Moldova’s Parliament Zinaida Grechanyi took part in the inauguration of the plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations in Saint Petersburg on April 15-16 this year. In 2021, the Commonwealth of Independent States celebrates the 30th anniversary of its founding.
