St Lazarus Cemetery will be closed for traffic during three days before Low Sunday
The vehicles will not have access to Saint Lazarus Cemetery in Chisinau during three days before Low Sunday, on April 19, 20 and 21, so that the municipal services can clean up. The people will be able to reach the graves on foot, the director of the municipal Funeral Services Company Vadim Cojusneanu said in the April 9 meeting of City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Many cars are parked on the cemetery’s territory and we cannot clean the place. Only the invalids will be allowed to enter by car,” he stated.
The people paint the benches and tables and lay out the areas around the graves in cemeteries. The municipal services put water tanks at their disposal.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said those who will make bad use of alcohol on Low Sunday should be asked to leave the cemetery. “Many start commemorating the dead, but forget about it in the afternoon and abuse alcohol. They should be asked to go and continue entertaining themselves elsewhere,” he stated.
The head of the municipal police Silviu Musuc said that the private units of transport will be banned from entering the cemeteries on Low Sunday, as usual. Only the minibus and buses will be allowed to enter, based on special permits issued by the police.
