Petrocub’s winning streak was cut short this past weekend as Lilian Popescu’s side were defeated by visiting St. Gheorghe 0-2 in Divizia Nationala match day 18.

The striker Vadim Cemîrtan scored both goals, minutes 67th and 71st. The victory puts St. George 6 points ahead of  third-placed Petrocub.

“It’s a pleasure to emerge victorious in a battle against such a team. It was a tough one. But now we must focus on the next game with Sheriff,” St. Gheorghe manager Serghei Cebotari told reporters.

Leaders Sheriff edged Milsami 2-1 for their eleventh Divizia Nationala win in a row. Kendysh and Boban scored for the hosts, as Stînă netted the final goal quite early in the game, on the 41st minute.

Elsewhere on match day 18: Zimbru drew with Dinamo-Auto, 2-2, and Speranța defeated Codru, 1-0.
