Spring cleanup campaign launched

About 650 residents of Chisinau on March 1 took part in the spring cleaning activities in “Valea Morilor” Park, Info-Prim Neo reports. They were joined by municipal councilors, employees of the Chisinau City Hall and municipal subdivisions. Equipped with rakes, spades and brooms, the people cleaned the place and gathered the leaves that remained since autumn. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the municipality started the cleanup campaign in “Valea Morilor” Park because it is the most important park in the city. The cleanup activities will continue in all the districts of Chisinau and will involve students, who will clean the yards of their schools, of kindergartens and the parks. “I call on companies and public institution managers to lay out the areas adjoining their offices so that the city becomes much cleaner by April 1,” he stated. “Last year, we began the cleanup activities in a number of parks the same day. This year we started them in “Valea Morilor” Park with seven units of transport,” said Eliferii Haruta, head of the green areas managing association “Spatii Verzi”. In order to motivate the people to take part in the campaign, the City Hall will stage two contests: “Cleanest Yard of Apartment Building”, and “My City, My Yard”. The spring cleanup campaign will last until the end of April.
