Spring begins with Eugen Doga. The composer turns 88 today

Composer Eugen Doga turns 88 today. On this occasion, President Maia Sandu sent him a congratulatory message, mentioning that we have the privilege to be contemporaries of a musical genius, whose creations fill our souls with love, kindness and wisdom, IPN reports.

"I wish the maestro health, peace and inspiration, along with our gratitude for all that he has given us through his music," the head of state said.

Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan also wished the composer health, strength and inspiration.

"On March 1, on the feast of Martyr's Day, on the last waltz of snowflakes, challenged by the sun's rays and the feeling of purity of thoughts, we sincerely wish the unparalleled master of our nation, composer Eugen Doga, a happy birthday!", the minister said.

Eugen Doga was born in the village of Mocra, Ribnita, on March 1, 1937.

Eugen Doga is People's Artist of the Republic of Moldova and People's Artist of the USSR. He is a laureate of the National Prize and the State Prize of the USSR, Knight of the Order of the Republic and other honors and honorary titles in the country and abroad, full member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.

He has composed symphonies, instrumental chamber pieces, romances and songs for the stage. The famous composition from the movie "Tandra si gingasa mea fiara" is called "the most beautiful love waltz of the 20th century". A distinctive feature of his symphonic music is the bright and original orchestration and the abundance of background music.
