Spring agricultural campaign ending
The measures undertaken by the Government and the consignment granted by external donors have allowed to supply the spring agricultural campaign with the necessary seeds, materials and fuel. Agriculture Minister Anatol Gorodenco told the Government's Wednesday sitting, May 21, that the sowing has been accomplished on 85 % of those 778,000 ha planned, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Sowing the sunflower and sugar beet plantations has ended. 20 per cent of the plantations entailed for corn are to be yet sown, as well as 30-35 % of the ones for vegetables 50 % of the tobacco plantations.
The orchards have been expanded with 3,300 ha, with 400 ha more than in 2007.
Gorodenco said the spring works campaign is to end by the 25th of May, then they will eye the reparation and preparation of the agricultural equipment to harvest those 570,000 ha of cereals.
He avoided to make any forecasts as to the harvests, but said the state of all the fields was good.
