Sports games for children from deprived families

Jean Pierre Heiniger, the initiator of the MOVE Project that is implemented by the Representative Office of the Swiss Foundation “Terre des hommes” in Moldova and financed by UEFA, will be visiting Moldova on February 8 and 9, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communique, the Foundation says Jean Pierre Heiniger will come to Moldova to work with the animators and promote the project that aims to foster the psychosocial development of the Moldovan children from underprivileged families, who are exposed to the risk of being exploited, abused and trafficked, through games and sport. The physical education subject in the Moldovan schools is based mainly on competition. The children who take part in the activities carried out as part of the MOVE Project want to try new games and the games they know from a psychological perspective, which is not based on competition, but on cooperation. The children need time to realize that they should cooperate more when the play. The animators of the project help them in this. The Representative Office of the Swiss Foundation “Terre des hommes” in Moldova has implemented the MOVE Project since 2008. Two more countries form part of this project in Southeastern Europe besides Moldova - Albania and Romania.
