Two retail outlets selling oriental fast food (kebab/shaorma) in Chisinau will be closed. During raids made by joint groups consisting of officers investigating economic frauds and representatives of the Public Health Center, there were found food products kept in insanitary conditions, with visible signs of decay and with the use-by date expired and without sanitary certificates. Another four economic entities were issued with prescriptions for removing the identified irregularities, IPN reports.
Press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Adrian Jovmir said the two retail outlets that will be closed are situated in Centru and Buiucani districts of Chisinau, but refused to give their addresses.
The inspectors also determined that the administrators of the inspected outlets didn’t issue the buyers with sales slips, while the cash register data showed sums that were much larger than those indicated in the accounting records. Some of the employees didn’t have the mandatory medical card and appropriate qualifications.
In 2006, the Public Health Center made an order to close all the kebab/shaorma retail outlets after the inspections carried out then showed that the ingredients used to make the fast food didn’t meet the sanitary requirements. The collected samples contained salmonellosis and other dangerous bacteria, with a number of people suffering food poisoning.
