Kindergarten No. 14 “Spicușor” in the municipality of Cahul was modernized with the financial support of the Government of Japan through the agency of the Kusanone Program. The US$86,900 worth of grant was used to execute thermal insulation works on external walls and to renovate the blind area, to replace the ventilation system in the kitchen and to outfit this with the equipment and furniture needed for processing and cooking food, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Embassy of Japan said the project contributed to enhancing safety and the protection of health of the 335 children, 52 educators and ancillary personnel of the kindergarten and to improving energy efficiency in the building.
Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Yamada Yoichiro said that he took part in the European Moldova Assembly that was held last Sunday in Chisinau and he felt a powerful positive energy there. He expressed his confidence that Moldova will overcome the obstacles and will integrate into the European mainstream. “It is good for these children to have high expectations for the national future!” stated the diplomat.
The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects or Kusanone Program was launched in Moldova in 2008. So far, Japan has provided US$6.9 million in in grant funding for 82 projects in the fields of education, healthcare and public utilities.
