Speranța defeated Codru 1-0 in Hâncești, in the first match of the eighth stage of the National Division. The only goal was scored by Oleksandr Iermachenko in the 23rd minute. In the middle of the second half, Speranța missed a penalty through Constantin Sandu, IPN reports.
On the day of the match, three players of Speranța learned that they were suspended for a year for taking part in fixed matches. These are Moldova’s Mihai Bolun, Ukraine’s Oleksandr Nasonov and Russia’s Matvei Guiganov. “This is shocking news for us,” Speranța coach Iurie Osipenco said after the encounter with Codru.
The Ethics Committee of the Moldovan Football Federation warned the administration of Speranţa that if more suspect cases of fixed matches are reported, the team will be penalized harsher. FC Floreşti was also warned.
Two more matches of the eighth stage of the National Division were set for today: Milsami - Dinamo-Auto and Sheriff - Petrocub.
