The municipal housing services enterprise of Chisinau engaged about 20 units of automatic equipment for collecting garbage, primarily tree leaves and bark that were spread all over the roadway as a result of the heavy rain with hail and high winds of the evening of July 29. The road maintenance company “Exdrupo” intervened with five units of equipment.

Contacted by IPN for details, Vasile Efros, division head at the General Public Amenities Division, said that about 400 persons since early morning have swept public places and removed the branches downed by the wind, including a tree downed in Mihai Eminescu Square. Those from the Green Areas Association removed the downed trees during the night as well.

The workload was the heaviest in Centru district, including in the historical center of the city, and in Telecentru quarter. The consequences of the rain were also felt in Râșcani and Ciocana districts and in parts of Buiucani district.

Vasile Efros called on the owners to park their cars so as not to restrict the access of the specialized vehicles as the streets were cars blocked the access could not be cleaned.

Dozens of trees were downed by the strong winds of the evening of July 29. Some of these fell onto the roadway, while others on gas pipelines and cars. The State Hydrometeorological Service forecast rain accompanied by thunder and lightning for today too.
