The Parliamentary Committee for culture, science, education, youth, sports and mass-media will select Thursday December 21 the candidates for membership of the Supervisory Board at “Teleradio-Moldova” Company. At the Wednesday’s meeting (December 20) of the Committee there were presented the files of 18 candidates forwarded by the Audiovisual Coordinating Council (ACC). Of them, the Committee shall select 9 candidates and submit them to the Parliament for consideration. The head of the specialized Committee Victor Stepaniuc stated that the Parliament could appoint the nine members at one of the sittings next week. The 18 candidates selected by ACC are Maria Harbu, Dumitru Tara, Corina Fusu, Andrei Popovici, Victoria Musteata, Iuliana Bordeianu, Anatol Dubrovschi, Igor Munteanu, Boris Focsa, Victoria Sarbu, Viorel Cibotaru, Andrei Porubin, Mariana Slopac, Paul Strutzescu, Alexandru Burean, Boris Bechet, Veaceslav Ionita and Ludmila Barbus. Only two of them have garnered the maximum number (9) of votes– Corina Fusu and Veaceslav Ionita. In a statement released Tuesday, December 19 the South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO) called on the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to ensure that the new members of Teleradio Moldova’s Supervisory Board will be selected transparently, based on professional experience. The Parliament was also urged to make sure of this fact by a recent statement signed by 8 diplomatic missions accredited to Chisinau and 3 international organisations.
