The early intervention services for children with disabilities should be brought closer to the people’s residence and the main package should be extended with kinetotherapy and logopedic services. For these services to be accessible in each district, investments and cooperation with the state are required. Such conclusions were formulated in public hearings on the rehabilitation services and specialized early intervention services for persons with disabilities, IPN reports.
Tatiana Zatyk, head of the Health Ministry’s Primary, Emergency and Community Assistance Policies Division, said early intervention is available at all the stages of service provision. A wider package of services is needed, together with kinetotherapy and logopedic services, development capacities in each district. In Moldova, there are curricular and programs of study for specialists from this field.
The functionary suggested founding a specialized institution that would coordinate the work of all the providers of early intervention services nationwide. “We will strengthen the capacities of the National Rehabilitation and Recovery Center for Children so that this coordinates the activity and contributes to the training of specialists and is a reference center for more complex cases that need to be solved nationwide,” stated Tatiana Zatyk.
In Moldova, there are now seven providers of early intervention services that signed contracts with the National Health Insurance Company. These are: the Florești District Hospital, the Criuleni Health Center, the National Rehabilitation Center for Children and four public associations.
