Specialists in inclusion of children with impairments initiate research aimed at modifying legislation
Specialists in the inclusion of children with impairments will carry out a research aimed at modifying the legislation so that the given children in general schools benefit from psychological, social assistance and other types of services, as in boarding schools, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The study was launched by therapists and practitioners of the Day Center “Speranta” (“Hope”), in concert with representatives of the Institute of Education Sciences.
Aglaida Bolboceanu, Doctor Habilitate of Psychology, said that there will be formulated questionnaires to determine how the children with impairments feel at school, what is the people's attitude towards them and other aspects.
The target group will include institutions in the municipalities of Chisinau, Cahul and Balti, which implement inclusion practices for children with impairments.
Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, the head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, said that the most important thing in this study is the legal aspect of the inclusion of these children in compulsory education. ”We need an eduction plan, special textbooks and even a special assistant for these children. There are more than 300 children with impairments who study in general schools in Moldova.”
“The state allocates 250,000 lei for the children who study in special schools and only 3,500 lei for those who study in general schools. We will examine this issue and consider the possible results,” said Ivanov Anatol, the head of the Education Division of Chisinau's Botanica district.
“We want to help these children adapt themselves to the surroundings and see another part of the life,” said Viorica Cojocaru, director executive of the Day Center “Speranta”.
The study titled “Assessment of the Efficiency of Inclusive Education Practices in Moldova” will continue until December. There will be surveyed about 120 children.
