Specialists from Romania hold maternal-fetal medicine course in Chisinau

Moldovan obstetricians and gynecologists as well as radiology specialists are trained in maternal-fetal medicine as part of a course held at the Mother and Child Institute by specialists from Romania.

The trainings are organized within the maternal-fetal medicine program implemented based on a memorandum signed in December 2022 by the Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Nicolaos Dendias, and the President of the UK Fetal Medicine Foundation, Kypros Nikolaides.

The maternal-fetal medicine program, running from 2022 to 2025, includes the establishment of a maternal-fetal medicine unit at the Mother and Child Institute. The rooms intended for the center are being fitted out and equipped.

Also as part of the program, two obstetricians from Moldova will receive scholarships for professional training granted by the Fetal Medicine Foundation. The doctors will thus obtain skills in carrying out surgical interventions on the fetus, diagnosis of fetal anomalies, congenital malformations, but also diseases in pregnant women, said the health minister.
