Special fund for promoting wine exports to be set up
A special fund called the Vine and Wine Fund will be created to work out strategies for promoting the export of wines, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said Thursday after a working meeting with representatives of wine companies, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”There will be set the final objective for the export of wine products. It was suggested founding the Vine and Wine Agency and the Vine and Wine Fund that will consist of budgetary allocations and private resources,” said the Premier.
Vlad Filat also said that the winemakers will receive subsidies from the agriculture subsidization fund. “We have not yet fixed the size of the subsidies. We will do the calculations by the end of this year and then decide the amount. There are many problems in the wine industry as this sector sustained losses. The steps taken until now were aimed at stabilizing the situation. But now we will take measures to reinvigorate the sector. We launched a project to the value of 75 million lei that will help the winemakers to buy modern equipment,” said the Premier.
Vlad Filat said the quality of the products is very important and special attention will be devoted to it as the Moldovan wines are intensely promoted abroad and the exports rose during the last few years.
