“Any problem that appears when crossing the border is solved by dialogue with our colleagues from Romania,” said the director of the Customs Service Tudor Balitski, when asked to state his opinion on the suspension of the special customs control measures applied to personal baggage on the external border of the EU, including with Moldova, by an order of the head of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration of Romania, IPN reports.
“We discussed with our colleagues and told them that we are for the fluidization of traffic and simplification of the border crossing procedures. On the other hand, we must prevent and combat tax and customs evasion. We fully agree with our colleagues, but they promised that possibilities will be identified not to inconvenience the people who will not have goods to which the restrictions apply in their personal luggage when the control measures are reintroduced on December 1, 2013. They also promised to present these reviewed rules before applying them,” said Tudor Balitski.
He added that there are no longer queues at the border crossing points and the travelers do not need to wait for clearance for hours.
