Special Brigade “Fulger” also looking for contraband

Employees of the Investigation and Information Division of the Home Ministry’s Special Brigade “Fulger” (“Lightning”) discovered a batch of contraband cigarettes value at 150,000 lei in a bus heading for Italy, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Ministry’s press service said that officers of the Brigade stopped the Mercedes bus near Cimislia town for check. They found about 6.000 packets of cigarettes in the bus’s trunk hidden in a special place. The Transport Police Division discovered a contraband case after announced by an ‘informer’. At the entrance to Chisinau, the Division’s officers stopped a Setra bus and found underwear for women under the seats and middle stairs of the bus. The goods worth about 50,000 lei without certificates of origin belonged to a 49-year-old woman. Questioned by the police, the woman said she bought the underwear in Cernauti and intended to sell it in markets in Chisinau. Under the law, smugglers are liable to fine of 3,000 to 6,000 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service, or up to two years’ imprisonment.
