Soros Moldova launches information campaign about Europe

Soros Foundation Moldova, together with a number of civil society organizations, have launched an information campaign entitled “Moldova, Europe”. The campaign is supported financially by the Open Society Foundations and will last by the end of September, IPN reports.

Soros Foundation Moldova executive director Victor Ursu told a news conference that the official name of the campaign and its slogan “Moldova, Europe” comes to put together two notions that until recently were separate. Now Moldova and Europe are closer and the primary meaning of the name is “Moldova is Europe”.

“The campaign is a response to the insufficient informing of the public about the European integration process, including the EU – Moldova AA/DCFTA agreement. It’s goal is to fill the information gap by offering the public more information in an accessible way and by refuting the incorrect information about the European integration,” stated Victor Ursu.

The people from rural areas, including the speakers of Russian and Gagauz, are the target public of the campaign that is divided into two parts – a broad promotion campaign through the mass media by TV and radio ads, video features, postcards and posters, and activities carried out by civil society organizations in rural areas, including Gagauzia.

The Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova will conduct a campaign to inform the mayors in 32 districts about the EU – Moldova AA/DCFTA agreement.

The Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul” will mount a series of caricature exhibitions focusing on the European integration. The caricatures will be exhibited in 12 settlements to provide accessible information about the reforms done on the path to the EU.

The Center CONTACT will carry out the campaign Eurobus, within which a bus with the organization’s volunteers will travel to eight districts of Moldova to inform the people about the European integration.

The Association of Electronic Press APEL will produce and broadcast a series of eight programs centering on the AA-DCFTA agreement in the regional TV channels Meridian and Aici TV.
