Soros Foundation Moldova has donated 135 computers and more than 50 printers to the National Police. The new equipment will be distributed to subdivisions all over the country, IPN reports.

“Together with the team I represent, we appreciate your involvement and generous support provided as part of our cooperation. Owing to the donated equipment, we will be able to optimize our work and, respectively, the services provided for the citizens. I thank you for the offered support that is extremely important for us. We every time convince ourselves that you are reliable partners,” said the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu.

Petru Culeac, executive director of Soros Foundation Moldova, said that within the partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the General Police Inspectorate, the authorities were assisted in the process of doing reforms that are essential for the institutions that ensure the security of citizens. “I’m glad that we managed to support the authorities in this process. We offered assistance in designing the sector policy framework based on the best standards of developed democracies and the expectations of the employees and society,” stated Petru Culeac.

The General Police Inspectorate noted that Soros Foundation Moldova during many years has supported the reform of the police and the internal affairs system by transferring expertise from abroad and also by offering technical assistance in developing police services of a high quality in accordance with the international human rights standards and the commitments made in the process of implementing the Moldova-EU Association Agreement following the obtaining of the EU candidate status.
