A doctor from Soroca was arrested for asking money from a woman who had to have a Cesarean. The doctor, who heads the district Perinatal Center, asked 3,500 lei for the operation to go successfully, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the National Anticorruption Center.
The doctor, 50, was arrested inside the hospital immediately after he took the money. He was banned from leaving the country.
The doctor faces up to seven years in jail for passive corruption.
