Sorin Mereacre reelected chairman of National Participation Council

The president of the East Europe Foundation in Moldova Sorin Mereacre was reelected as chairman of the National Participation Council for another year by a unanimous vote. Sorin Mereacre has held the post from February 2, 2010, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the same meeting, there were elected the coordinators of the Council's working groups. Sergiu Ostaf, executive director of the Resource Center of NGOs for Human Rights (CreDO), will coordinate the working group [on justice and human rights], Dinu Armasu, executive director of the Foreign Investors Association - the group [on economic development], Arcadie Barbarosie, executive director of the Public Policy Institute – the group [on foreign police, security and defense], while Antonita Fonari, executive director of the Resource Center “Young and Free” - the group on [social, education and youth policies]. Every working group will monitor the public policies in the areas for which they are responsible and will ensure communication between the members, Government and other interested parties so as to formulate suggestions and recommendations when need be. The next step in the Council's work is to crate secretariats for every group. The National Participation Council was constituted as a consultative body at the suggestion of the Government. It consists of 30 representatives of civil society. The Council aims to facilitate the participation of those interested in the formulation, implementation, monitoring, assessment and revision of strategic planning documents. The ordinary meeting of the National Participation Council took place in February 8.
