The MPs of the Șor Party consider all the citizens of Moldova should be compensated by the state through the gas bills if the gas tariffs rise, not only the socially deprived groups, as Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița announced.

“As far as we see, the negotiations with the Russian Federation didn’t make any headway and the signing of a new contract with “Gazprom” is not yet in view. They say that alternative sources of gas supplies will be found, but there is no clarity in this regard for mow. However, one thing is clear and the authorities officially confirmed this: no matter where we import gas from – we hope we will not remain without gas ahead of winter – the price of gas will be higher. We will yet see how much the price rises,” MP Marina Tauber told a news conference, being quoted by IPN.

According to the MP, it is not clear who will benefit from compensation and who are the “vulnerable citizens” to whom the Premier referred. “I think that clarification is needed here, but it is evident that the Government is looking for solutions to get rid of the other citizens and to allow them to cope with this difficult problem themselves,” said Marina Tauber.

She noted that the people already turned on the heating system and are to get bills. Until now, those with two- or three –room apartments, paid 1,500 to 2,000 lei for heat, but an eventual doubling of these monthly sums will seriously affect most of the citizens given that the average official salary is now 8,000 lei. But the citizens incur also other costs, for electricity, fuel. All the products grow more expensive and all these citizens can be considered vulnerable.

Marina Tauber said that given the gas crisis, the parliamentary group of Șor Party proposed a bill providing that the state will fully cover the difference between the previous and future gas tariffs so that the end users do not feel an eventual rise in gas prices.
