The parliamentary group of Șor Party requests to convoke an extraordinary session of Parliament in connection with the gas crisis and the unprecedented price rises. The group banks on the support of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BSC) for proposing a censure motion, IPN reports.
MP Ilan Șor (who is not in the country and who didn’t attend any of the sittings of the current Parliament, e.n.) accuses the government of complete irresponsibility in the management of the crisis. “We ask to convoke an extraordinary session of Parliament for January 20-28. The reason is as substantiated, logical and plausible as possible. It goes to the critical and deplorable situation in which the citizens of the Republic of Moldova found themselves following the deepening of the energy and social crisis generated by the sudden increase in the prices of all the energy resources and the incompetence and incapacity of the Government to handle the crisis and to the necessity of taking urgent measures for overcoming this critical situation and for helping the citizens,” said Ilan Șor.
He called on the MPs, primarily those of BCS, to support them in their approaches. Besides initiating a no-confidence motion, the Șor Party’s MPs suggest constituting a special parliamentary commission that would identify optimal solutions to the energy crisis, including possibilities for renegotiating the gas purchase conditions with the Russian Federation.
After the snap parliamentary elections of last summer, three entities entered the legislative body. The Party of Action and Solidarity has 63 MPs, BCS – 32, while Șor Party – six.
In accordance with the Parliament’s regulations, a censure motion against the Government can be initiated by at least ¼ of the elected MPs and is adopted by a majority of the votes of MPs.
