Some of young people who come to Chisinau to work become vagrants

The young people from districts who come to Chisinau to find employment sometimes become vagrants, the head of the municipal police Silviu Musuc said Monday. When it is cold, the young people are taken from the street to the Night Center for the Homeless, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Occasionally, they call us themselves and tell us where they are. They have houses in the country’s districts, but come to Chisinau to look for a job. When they do not find work, they start to beg,” said Silviu Musuc. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca asked providing more information about these young people. “We should know who they are, how old they are and why they come to Chisinau so that we could find out why they beg and make a comparison with towns from other states. It is important to see how many of them suffer from mental or other kinds of disorders and how many migrate because of poverty,” he stated. As many as 512 people have been taken to the Night Center for the Homeless so far this year. 80% of them are not from Chisinau.
