After over a year of the scandal concerning spoiled products in kindergartens, some of the involved firms returned to the market and continue to win public tender contests and sign contracts for the delivery of food products.
In a news conference at IPN, Sabina Popov, a member of the Association “Solidary Parents”, spoke about one of the involved business entities, Lovis Agro. During half a year of the investigation, the given company hadn’t taken part in tender contests, but started to supply again food products to the education, youth and sports divisions of Centru and Rascani districts from the second half of 2017.
The managers of the two divisions said they requested the Public Procurement Agency to put this company on the blacklist, but the Agency replied that the law was modified meanwhile and the procedure of including business entities in the blacklist was also changed. “As the given company seems to have the largest number of contracts with the state, it is hard to believe that this will be put on the blacklist,” stated Sabina Popov.
Head of the Association “Solidary Parents” Ala Revenco said of the three firms involved in the scandal concerning spoiled products in kindergartens, only one was included in the blacklist by the Public Procurement Agency. “A number of complaints were submitted against Lovis Agro, but nothing was done. We hope that at least the institutions that are supplied by this company with products monitor the quality of these products,” stated Ala Revenco.
The inspections carried out at the end of November 2016 revealed that a number of business entities were favored. Pursuing the goal of making bigger profits, the companies supplied products of a lower quality than the one indicated in the signed contracts.
