Solid refuse from Chisinau municipality might be processed by means of compostation, supposing separation of organic refuse from the other one, which cannot be processed, and produce biogas, as result of putrefaction. The other refuse, usually, about 50%, is inhumed. The chairman of Chisinau Territorial Organization of the Ecologist Movement, Vladimir Garaba, said that a local public authorities’ delegation paid a visit, on 28 May - 4 June, to Italy where it got acquainted with many refuse processing projects, proposed by 2 of companies. Those two Italian companies are “Engineering Consulting” and “Gecenu”, main stakeholder of the company “Comprest” of Romania. 5 of those 6 projects implemented by these two tenders presented to Moldovan delegation the refuse compostation method. Garaba mentioned that ecologists accept this method, while the burning method is rejected on the ground that it is against the provisions of the legislation of RM and European Union, being noted the pollution factor. He also mentioned that the planned visit to Romania, at the third company, would not take place, as it does not have implemented refuse-processing projects by compostation. According to Garaba, the Tender Commission on naming the businessmen for building the Refuse Processing Plant of Chisinau municipality plans to convene on Thursday, 8 June, in order to decide which of Italian firms proposed the most advantageous investments. The selected investor will be obliged to cooperate with the local cleaning system and refuse transport one as well. The plant is to be built near the urban refuse transport station.
