Soldier’s record for 3,000 lei

An employee of the Military Center of Rascani District of Chisinau is suspected of legalizing soldier’s records illegally. The Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption (CCECC) began to investigate the man after receiving a complaint from a citizen, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the CCECC says that the young man that informed about this case was the only maintainer of the family and had the right to a temporary respite before being drafted into the army, according to the legislation. The employee told him he could issue a soldier’s record for him so that he would not have to do his military service in exchange for 3,000 lei. The suspect admits his guilt partially. On May 26, the court set him free 72 hours after arrested on health grounds, the communiqué says. Legal action was taken against the official under article 324 of the Penal Code “Passive Corruption”. The man is liable to fine of 60,000 to 100,000 lei or imprisonment of five to ten years, with the deprivation of the right to hold certain posts or carry out certain activities for a period of two to five years. The CCECC is investigating the case in concert with the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office to identify the accomplices of the employee if there are such. Officials of the Center say there are reasons to think that an entire network of civil servants is involved in such businesses. This year, the Center has instituted 14 legal proceedings over passive corruption charges.
