The soldier who was injured mortally from a gun on Wednesday evening was shot by the sentinel while on duty. The suspect was arrested for 72 hours, Prosecutor General of the Cahul Military Prosecutor’s Office Vitalie Covaliov has told Info-Prim Neo. The incident happened at about 18.20 on September 21 on the territory of the Cahul-based motorized infantry brigade “Dacia”. Corporal on guard No. 1 Vadim Harin was shot by the sentinel of post No. 2. According to the preliminary data, the victim entered post No. 2 to see what the sentinel was doing. The sentinel was on the observation tower. The suspect told the prosecutors that the victim asked him to go down to discuss. He descended, but in several minutes asked the victim to immediately leave the territory of the post as they might have been seen by the guard chief and penalized. Vadim Harin provoked him, asking him if he would shoot if he refused to leave the post. The suspect aimed his AKM-74 rifle loaded with 30 cartridges at him, took the safety device out and released the bolt. A shot occurred at that moment. Vadim Harin was injured in the thorax and died shortly in the district hospital. The 18-year-old suspect from Causeni was put under arrest. The Cahul Military Prosecutor’s Office started a legal case over violation of the gun safety rules, which resulted in the death of a person. Vadim Harin, 21, was from Olanesti village of Stefan Voda district. He was drafted into the army on November 4 last year.
