Famous singer Sofia Rotaru was invited to Chisinau to rerecord the Anthem of Moldova’s capital city, Info-Prim Neo reports. In Monday’s meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said he sent the singer an invitation, asking her to come to Chisinau to rerecord the song “My City”, which is the anthem of Chisinau. Sofia Rotaru has not yet responded to the invitation. The mayor said the song is to be rerecorded before the 575th anniversary of the foundation of Chisinau that will be marked this year. He considers the quality of sound should be improved and there should be made a video of the song in a new interpretation. The mayor said Master Eugen Doga already accepted to cooperate with the City Hall. The song “My City” was launched in 1971. The verses were written by Gheorghe Voda, while the music by Eugen Doga. The song is sung by Sofia Rotaru. It became Chisinau’s anthem in June 1998.
