Sociological survey and international conference regarding the phenomenon of electoral absenteeism cost almost 90,000 lei
central electoral campaign approved on Tuesday, 28 February, the costs for preparing and organise the sociological survey and the international conference regarding the absenteeism phenomenon at the elections.
Thus the sociological survey will cost the state budget 68,000 lei, and the international conference, organised later – 20,300 lei.
Renata Lapti, CEC vice-chairwoman explained that the sociological survey includes many stages; one of them is this survey. According to her, there were organised different seminars so far, other activities, and very soon the survey will be organised, and than the data will be explored by the experts of the field. The international conference will be discussed later, where the international experts will participate. She said that it was excluded the second round table at national level, which was foreseen later because of money lack. Lapti avoided talking about a certain date regarding the start of the survey or of the international conference.
The decision to make a sociological survey regarding the absenteeism of citizens at the elections was taken at the round table of 17 December 2005 „Citizens’ absenteeism at the lections of the general mayor of municipality Chisinau: reasons, causes, solutions”. Later the Philosophy, Sociology and Right Institute of the Science Academy of Moldova was appointed as executor of the survey.
These actions were necessary after 4 unsuccessful attempt to elect the mayor of the municipality Chisinau in summer and autumn of last year. Inhabitants of the capital participated in elections in an insufficient that the elections could be validated.
