The members of the Supreme Security Council in the November 24 meeting underlined the necessity of informing the people about the capacity of the state institutions to ensure the smooth running of the parliamentary elections and to maintain law and order in the electoral period. Also, society was urged not to yield to the influence and possible provocations of extremist forces, IPN reports.

The state security bodies were entrusted with the task of taking all the legal measures needed to ensure law and order and to counteract any type of destabilizing actions both before the elections and in the post-electoral period. After the meeting, President Nicolae Timofti’s spokesman Vlad Turcanu told the reporters that all the responsible institutions were issued with recommendations concerning the maintenance of public order on the election day.

Vlad Turcanu noted there is information about possible provocations and destabilizing actions involving election runners and public figures. He didn’t give names, but said that these persons do not act in the national interests as they make public false information with the aim of manipulating the people.

According to Vlad Turcanu, there are no situations in Moldova that could now generate panic.
