The New Right will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Great Union in Chisinau with a march that will start at the Cemetery of Heroes at 10am and will end with the Union Round Dance near the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy. In a news conference at IPN, Tudor Ionescu, the president of the New Right, said it is very important for the union centenary to be celebrated in Chisinau as Bessarabia was the first Romanian province that decided to unite with Romania on March 27, 1918.
“It is hard to imagine how Romania would have looked like today if Bessarabia hadn’t decided to unite with the motherland on March 27, 1918. Bessarabia was the one that opened the way for the unification of the Romanian nation into one state and encouraged the other Romanian provinces, Bucovina and Transylvania, to decide in favor of the union with Romania,” stated Tudor Ionescu.
He noted that the Romanian nationalists, the unionists, will not abandon the reunification dream and ideal. On the 100th anniversary of the union, they will continue to struggle for the reintegration of the country. A Nationalist Alliance will be soon set up in Romania and this will run in all the elections and will promote the national interests of Romania. In the Republic of Moldova, the unionist forces should also unite as the chances of seeing the union swifter will thus increase.
Pavel Vintilă, president of the New Right in Moldova, said the events held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the union in Chisinau should be as large in scale as in the Romanian towns. In the centenary year, the New Right undertook a number of projects. Together with another two organizations, it is reconstructing the Cemetery of Heroes.
Pavel Vintilă called on all the Romanians to become involved financially so as to finish the reconstruction of the cemetery with tombs of Romanian soldiers.
Cristian Dumitriu, who is in charge of foreign relations at the New Right, said the Republic of Moldova is now in a geopolitical context that makes it vulnerable to external pressure. Moldova can ensure its security only by the reunification with Romania. Cristian Dumitriu called upon the politicians to be responsible and struggle to achieve this desideratum.
