Drivers can see the situation on the roads in real time on the State Road Administration’s website www.asd.md. Those who do not have access to the Internet can find out if a road is blocked or not by calling (022)225530. The service is available round-the-clock, IPN reports.
Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici in a press briefing said it is very important that the drivers inform themselves before setting off, especially in winter, so that they know if there are traveling dangers on the road they intend to cover. The faster the information reaches the citizens, the lower will be the number of cases when persons get stuck in traffic and of other incidents.
Kiril Gaburici said the drivers on www.ads.md can see images filmed in real time by video cameras set up on the national roads all over the country. A relevant application for mobile phones will be soon launched.
Secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure Anatol Usatyi said that besides information about the state on the roads in real time, the State Road Administration’s website also provides the contact data of the authorities responsible for the management of each road segment, either the State Road Administration, the district council or the mayor’s office.
According to the secretary, in Moldova there are 9,300 km of public roads and about 5,900 km of these are national roads. A number of 518 vehicles have been prepared for cleaning snow from the national roads. Of these, 178 vehicles have GPS systems and the State Road Administration will be able to monitor the movement of these vehicles in real time. It is estimated that about 15,000 tonnes of salt will be spread on roads as antiskid material this winter.
