An environmental information and education center called “Rădenii Vechi” was inaugurated as part of the reserve “Plaiul Fagului”. The center includes a hall for information activities and conferences and a mini-exhibition of species of plants, insects and animals that live in the reserve, including species added to the Red Book, IPN reports.
The reserve’s director Boris Curoș said this is an important project. The center will contribute to promoting forest ecotourism in cooperation with the local community. There will be opened tourist routes for the winter season and built a cycle track, while the recreation areas around the lakes will be laid out.
The center was reconstructed and created with the support of the Polska Pomoc Project of Poland. The works started in June 2017 and cost 5 million lei. The reserve contributed 10% of the costs.
